California Gov. Gavin Newsom laid out strict criteria last Friday for school reopenings that makes it unlikely the vast majority of districts will have classroom instruction in the fall as the coronavirus pandemic surges.

For over 30 years, Southwest Riverside County Association of Realtors has been awarding scholarships to qualifying and deserving local high school seniors. On any given year, up to 30 scholarships are presented to students in Southwest Riverside County who are furthering their education.

After her junior year at Great Oak High School in Temecula, Yawaywish Laupsa-Briones got noticed by a West Point softball recruiter who had viewed a couple of her tournament games. She did some research on the school and its athletic program and decided she wanted to commit to the school. On July 11, she left California to start her academic career there.
