A man accused of gunning down a 31-year-old San Jacinto woman and trying to kill her companion in a premeditated attack nearly seven years ago pleaded not guilty Friday to first-degree murder and other charges.
On Sunday, January 28, 2024, at 7:28 a.m., the shooting victim, a 40-year-old male resident of Moreno Valley, succumbed to his injuries sustained from the earlier incident. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit was notified and assumed control of the investigation. The victim’s identity is currently being withheld pending next of kin notification.
As the investigation into the homicide of Elba Estrada continued, Riverside County Sheriff’s Investigators learned that Marilyn Cardenas was the daughter of Estrada. Estrada was determined to be a resident of San Bernardino, California and Cardenas had recently relocated to the Coachella Valley.
