Search Warrant / Brandishing a Firearm and Criminal Threats Arrest
On March 23, 2021, at 9:00 A.M., deputies assigned to the Coachella Community Action Team (CCAT), with the assistance of the Southern Coachella Valley Community Service District Team (SCVCSDT), served a search warrant at a residence in the 86-100 block of Las Flores Drive in the city of Coachella. The search warrant stemmed from a brandishing of a firearm investigation. Robert Soto, 18 of Coachella, was arrested for brandishing a firearm and making criminal threats. The weapon used in the incident was recovered at the residence. Soto was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center in the city of Indio.
Armed Robbery and Assault with a Deadly Weapon
On January 27, 2021, La Quinta Special Enforcement Team deputies conducted a follow-up investigation that stemmed from an armed robbery which occurred at the 79000 block of Olympia Fields, in La Quinta on December 20, 2020. Deputies identified four suspects who were all armed with firearms at the time of the incident. The suspects assaulted the two victims who were struck in the head with the firearms and rendered unconscious. The victims were subsequently robbed of their belongings.
Involuntary Manslaughter
On January 23, 2021, the Lake Elsinore Station Investigations Bureau along with assistance from California Fire Law Enforcement Officers, assumed the investigation regarding a residential fire that had occurred in the 32900 block of Blackwell Boulevard, in the unincorporated area of Lakeland Village. During the fire, three individuals (two juveniles, one dependent adult) perished.
Riverside County Official Receives National Honorable Mention Award
Matteu (Matt) D. Daniels, Riverside County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) Regional Manager, has been awarded one of this year's honorable mentions by the Association for Community Affiliated plans (ACAP). Nominated for the Leadership in Advocacy Award by Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP), Daniels was recognized for his decade-long partnership and immense dedication to providing healthcare access to underserved populations in the community.
Embezzlement
In August of 2020, The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office forwarded a criminal complaint to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station Investigations Bureau regarding an Embezzlement incident that occurred in the city of Canyon Lake. During this complex and lengthy investigation, Investigators revealed that 78-year-old Robert Templeton from Canyon Lake who was the Treasurer for a local Non-Profit Travel Club, diverted club funds into his personal bank account from January of 2017 through December of 2019. Investigators found fifty-six transactions during this period for non-business purposes, totaling over $24,000.00. On today’s date, Templeton was interviewed and arrested for Embezzlement, Grand Theft and Theft by False Pretenses. Robert Templeton was booked into a Riverside County jail without further incident.
