Attempt Murder on a Peace Officer

On Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at 1:16 pm, Deputies assigned to the Palm Desert Station responded to the area of Lupine Lane and Highway 111, in the city of Palm Desert, to locate a male who was assaulting customers in the area of the 73-400 block of Highway 111.

Homicide

Investigators continued the investigation into the murder of Markese Benny Holland. On Friday, March 26, 2021, investigators arrested Michael Reed, 28 years old out of Perris and London Tariq Strider, 18 years old out of Chino for murder.

Attempt Murder of Peace Officer

On Sunday, March 28, 2021, at 5:17 pm, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies from the Cabazon Station responded to Chino Road and Ramon Road in the unincorporated area of Banning to investigate a report of a negligent discharge of a firearm. As deputies arrived, the suspect fled the area, and a pursuit began. The pursuit concluded in the area of 12100 Morongo Road, at which point the suspect shot at the deputies.

Search Warrant / Assault with a Firearm Arrest

On March 23, 2021, at 7:00 A.M., deputies assigned to the Coachella Community Action Team (CCAT), with the assistance of the Southern Coachella Valley Community Service District Team (SCVCSDT), served a search warrant at a multiple residence’s in the cities of Indio and Palm Desert. The search warrant stemmed from an assault with a firearm investigation. Andrew Flores, 24 of Indio, was arrested for assault with a firearm and shooting at an occupied vehicle. Flores was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center in the city of Indio.

Search Warrant / Brandishing a Firearm and Criminal Threats Arrest

On March 23, 2021, at 9:00 A.M., deputies assigned to the Coachella Community Action Team (CCAT), with the assistance of the Southern Coachella Valley Community Service District Team (SCVCSDT), served a search warrant at a residence in the 86-100 block of Las Flores Drive in the city of Coachella. The search warrant stemmed from a brandishing of a firearm investigation. Robert Soto, 18 of Coachella, was arrested for brandishing a firearm and making criminal threats. The weapon used in the incident was recovered at the residence. Soto was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center in the city of Indio.
