Nearly 77 percent of doses received to Riverside County have been administered to county residents, continuing an upward trend that started weeks ago.

Sixteen new COVID-19 cases were reported Friday, Dec. 31 in Riverside County, a “severely under-reported” figure stemming from technical problems attributed to technical issues with the state data-collection system. “We are working to correct the issue, and the correct figures will be reported as soon as the issue is resolved,” said Jose Arballo, a spokesman for the Riverside University Health System.

As expected, a regional stay-at-home order in effect across Southern California due to surging COVID-19 hospitalizations was formally extended Tuesday, continuing a ban on all gatherings of people from different households and in-person dining and setting strict capacity limits at many businesses.

The Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved a resolution declaring Riverside County's intent to join six other Southern California counties in calling for increased efforts to expand broadband internet access to the farthest reaches of the region to ensure all residents can get online.
