The American Legion Post 53 has been in recruitment mode for our Boys State. Robert Farris, our Second Vice Commander, has been in contact with our local schools, recruiting both boys and girls for Boys State.

VA housed more than 40,000 homeless Veterans in 2022

During 2022, the Department of Veterans Affairs permanently housed 40,401 homeless Veterans, providing them with the safe, stable homes that they deserve. This exceeded the department’s goal to house 38,000 Veterans in 2022 by 6.3%.

VA adds several new political appointees

The Department of Veterans Affairs has added several key leaders to the team in recent months, all of whom will help VA serve Veterans, their families, caregivers and survivors.

The American Legion Family: Sons of the American Legion

The American Legion has so much more to offer than merely membership. For instance, all male descendants adopted sons and stepsons of members of the American Legion, and such male descendants of veterans who died in service during World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, and Gulf War, War on Terrorism, during the delimiting periods set forth Article IV, Section 1, of the National Constitution of the American Legion or who died after their honorable discharge from such service, shall be eligible for membership in the Sons of the American Legion.
