Robbery Arrest – August 10, 2020

During the months of July and August 2020, members of the Moreno Valley Station Robbery Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) began investigating a series of armed robberies that occurred in the city of Moreno Valley. During each of these robberies, the suspect would enter the business dressed in dark clothing, select an item for purchase and when the clerk would open the cash register, the suspect would brandish a firearm and demand money.

Stolen Vehicle / Drug Paraphernalia Arrest

On August 10, 2020, Deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s station conducted an enforcement stop on a gray Mercedes for a traffic violation. A records check revealed the Mercedes was stolen out of the city of San Jacinto. The occupants, Claire Miller and Eduardo Nieto, were taken into custody without incident. Claire Miller was also in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Residential Burglary – August 10, 2020

On Monday, August 10, 2020, around 9:15 am, officers from the California Highway Patrol located a possible stolen golf cart at a recycling shop in Indio. Officers traced the golf cart to a residence in the 54000 block of Southern Hills in La Quinta. Officers responded to the residence in an effort to contact the homeowner and find out if they knew the whereabouts of their golf cart. When the officers arrived at the residence they found signs of a break-in. Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department-Thermal Station were called to the scene to investigate the break-in.

Homicide – August 10, 2020

On Monday, August 10, 2020, Investigators from the Central Homicide Unit completed an investigation of a 2019 murder that occurred in Jurupa Valley. In January of 2019, the victim, Walter Macklin, a 19 year old male, was shot and killed on the 6000 block of Smith Ave. Investigators identified Adrian Alvarez, 21 years old and Eric Guzman, 22 years old, as the suspects responsible for Macklin’s murder.

Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Checkpoint Planned

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department/Norco Station will hold a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, August 14, from 8:00 pm to 2:00 am at an undisclosed location within the city limits. Checkpoint locations are chosen based on a history of DUI crashes and arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
