In-Custody Death Investigation

On Saturday, August 21, 2021, approximately 1:05 am, deputies assigned to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department-Robert Presley Detention Center, conducted a routine security check of a housing unit. During the security check, jail staff discovered an unresponsive male inmate. Custody staff along with medical staff immediately responded to the cell and began administering life-saving measures. Cal Fire and American Medical Response (AMR) responded and subsequently after further life-saving measures, the inmate was pronounced deceased on scene.

Fatal Traffic Collision – Sunday, August 22

On Sunday, August 22, 2021, about 4:26 A.M., deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Jurupa Valley Station, responded to the report of a major injury traffic collision at the intersection of Clay Street and General Drive, in the city of Jurupa Valley. Deputies and Cal Fire arrived on-scene and located a single vehicle that had struck a curb and two traffic signal poles, ejecting the driver. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene by Cal Fire paramedics.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department - Norco Station will hold a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 8:00 pm to 2:00 AM at an undisclosed location within the city limits.
