The Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District Easter Run, known as "The Bunny Hop," went the "social distance" this year by going virtual. Valley-Wide, which operates more than 40 facilities, has been holding this popular family race for over 30 years as part of its mission: "to responsibly provide exceptional programs and quality park facilities that promote community involvement and healthy lifestyles."

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YEARS HEMET CITY COUNCIL EVALUATES A CITY MANAGER WITHOUT TERMINATING HIM

Tuesday night's Hemet City Council meeting presented quite a surprise to those of us who cover this twice-monthly event. In closed session, the Council evaluated the performance of City Manager Chris Lopez and came back into public session with a thumbs up on his performance which, for the first time in years, did not result in termination. We have attempted to contact Lopez for comment but have been unable to do so by press time.

Governor Newsom Signs Legislation to Ensure Access to Supplemental Paid Sick Leave for Workers Impacted by the Pandemic

Building on the state’s action to expand paid sick days protections for California’s workforce during the pandemic, Governor Gavin Newsom today signed SB 95, legislation to ensure access to up to 80 hours of COVID-19 supplemental paid sick leave for eligible employees, including those advised to quarantine or isolate and those caring for COVID-impacted family members.

Biden-Harris Administration Increases Medicare Payment for Life-Saving COVID-19 Vaccine

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is increasing the Medicare payment amount for administering the COVID-19 vaccine. This new and higher payment rate will support important actions taken by providers that are designed to increase the number of vaccines they can furnish each day, including establishing new or growing existing vaccination sites, conducting patient outreach and education, and hiring additional staff.

California prisons restart visitations 1 year into pandemic

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California state prisons will soon resume limited in-person visits with inmates more than a year after they were halted because of the coronavirus pandemic, officials said Tuesday.
