San Jacinto Rotary Club Honors Marian Chacon of Soboba

The annual San Jacinto Rotary Club awards dinner that got put on hold for a couple of years due to the pandemic, returned March 21 to recognize six honorees who make a difference in their community. Among them was Marian Chacon who was named Soboba Tribal Elder and Community Leader for 2022.

Body, Mind & Spirit Celebrated at Soboba

Kelli Hurtado of “Let’s Get Moving Mondays” hosted a Body, Mind & Spirit Wellness Fair at the Soboba Sports Complex on March 13. About 30 vendors, located inside and outside the gymnasium, shared health-related information and items with hundreds of guests who attended throughout the six-hour event.

GRID ALTERNATIVES SOLAR PROJECT SHINES AT SOBOBA

The Soboba Fire Station Microgrid project is set to begin this month starting with the installation of a concrete platform to host the Vanadium Redox Flow Battery system provided by Invinity Energy Systems. A carport canopy, 59kW solar array, located at the rear parking lot will not only provide shade for team member cars but more importantly will support the solar panels that will be connected to the grid. The project will be providing cost savings to the facility and backup power for emergency operations during power outages.

SOBOBA COMMUNITY CLEANUP EVENT HELPS REMOVE HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE

The Soboba Tribal Environmental Department hosts quarterly community cleanups at the Soboba Indian Reservation to help homeowners dispose of unwanted items. It also serves as a way for household hazardous waste to be disposed of properly.

When Bridget Lowe was asked to research curricula that could better serve the students at Soboba Tribal Preschool, she was happy to find one that coincided well with the new “Smart Boards” that had been installed in each of the classrooms.
