Electrical Short Triggers Apartment Fire in Riverside

Firefighters Saturday knocked down a kitchen fire inside a three-bedroom apartment in Riverside.

Firefighters were dispatched at 3:18 a.m. to 6060 Rutland Ave., the Riverside Fire Department reported.

“The fire was quickly knocked down and firefighters confirmed that no victims were trapped in the apartment,” according to a department news statement. “Riverside City firefighters remained on scene to overhaul the fire and assist three displaced adults with obtaining their belongings from the apartment.”

The cause of the fire was “electrical in nature” and no injuries were reported, fire officials said.
