The Hemet Sunset Rotary held a pancake fundraiser for My City Youth. My City Youth began operating in Hemet in 2007, however Dan Harris (Executive Director) has been serving the youth in this valley since 1997.

Programs currently offered there are 9 different art classes, 7 different dance classes, tutoring, robotics, 4 gymnastics classes, self-defense, reading, guitar, nutrition, juvenile diversion (community service) program, and a flourishing teen parent program. They are currently in the works of expanding from after-school programming to include further diversion focused educational classes, these classes will include life skills and workplace skills. Their goal is to nurture the at-risk demographic into healthy futures, healthy citizenship. and careers. The hope for the future are these kids.

There are big plans for the future that include Trade and Tech programs for ages 16-28, a family resource center, and youth diversion programs that will offer kids pro-social activities in a positive environment.

All programming is always free.

The Hemet Sunset Rotary raised $1400 for MyCity Youth. They have refurbished the trailer previously owned by United Way and are willing to do pancake fundraisers for other nonprofits. The members of Sunset that helped on the project were Barry & Carol Richlin, Jan Manietta, Linda Krupa, Bob Duistermars, Beverly Jones, Curt Welshon & Rick Foster.

Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in their communities, and in themselves. Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision. For more than 110 years, Rotary’s people of action have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, they are always working to better our world, and we stay committed to the end.

Hemet Sunset Rotary meets every Wednesday night at 5:30pm in the Diamond Valley Arts Center on Harvard St.
