Details:

On July 15, 2022, at 6:55 a.m., deputies assigned to the Palm Desert Sheriff Station were dispatched to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon call in a hotel parking lot, in the 72300 block of Highway 111, Palm Desert. Upon arrival, deputies located adult subjects with significant sharp force trauma to their bodies. A female and a male were pronounced deceased at the scene within minutes of deputies’ arrival. A male subject survived and was transported to a local hospital. A crime scene was secured and Palm Desert Station investigators responded to begin the investigation. The Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation.

Through the course of the investigation, and video surveillance review, this incident was determined to be a case of domestic violence. The female victim, Yaying Wu, 31 years of Palm Desert, was the spouse of the surviving male suspect, Kenny Wu, 34 years of Palm Desert. The suspect, Kenny Wu, remains in critical condition at a local hospital, and will be arrested for two counts of murder upon his discharge. The male victim was identified as Jesus Sanchez, 30 years of Cathedral City.
