Details:

On Friday, September 2, 2022, at 9:53 AM, deputies from the Perris Station responded to the area of Alexander Street and Firewood Street in the unincorporated area of Mead Valley regarding gunshots heard in the area. Deputies arrived at a property near the location and found a deceased male adult with obvious trauma. Deputies secured the area and began an investigation.

Investigators from the Perris Station and the Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. The identity of the decedent is pending. The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details are available for release at this time.

Kohler booked on murder, hit-run death after Palm Avenue scooter crash

Mason Drew Kohler, 31, was booked on felony murder, hit-and-run death, and DUI charges, according to the Riverside County jail roster, which lists a Hemet PD arrest at Palm Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue. Hemet police say two pedestrians on an electric scooter were struck there about 6:55 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22; one was pronounced dead. Police have not named the driver, and the decedent's identity remains withheld.
