On September 2, 2022, at 11:51 p.m., deputies from the Thermal Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a loud party on the 53000 block of Calle Sanborn, in Coachella. Upon arriving, deputies heard several gunshots and saw several people flee from the location of the party. Deputies located two victims struck by gunfire and rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived. Both adult victims; a male and a female, were airlifted to area hospitals for additional medical care. A crime scene was secured. Deputies were notified the male victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel. The Central Homicide Unit responded to assume the investigation. The victim’s identities are being withheld pending positive identification and next of kin notification. The investigation is on-going.
