Update:

On April 23, 2023, investigators from the Central Homicide Unit identified the suspect in the murder of Giovanni Ibarra. David Diaz, a 39-year old male from Los Angeles, was located and arrested in the Otay Mesa area of the city of San Diego. Diaz was later booked for murder at the Robert Presley Detention Center. There are no additional suspects outstanding; however, the investigation is on-going and anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact Investigator Juarez of the Central Homicide Unit at (951) 955-2777.

Details:

On April 23, 2023, at 2:30 a.m., deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the report of a shooting at the 25000 block of Joshua Avenue, Moreno Valley. When deputies arrived they found a male, unresponsive in the street, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Deputies attempted lifesaving measures but the victim had already succumbed to his injuries. Investigators from the Central Homicide Unit and Moreno Valley Station responded to assume the investigation.

The victim was later identified as Giovanni Ibarra, a 44-year old male from the city of Azusa. The suspect(s) fled the scene prior to deputies arrival and is still outstanding.
