Details:
On January 16, 2021, at 9:08 PM, Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force Officers from Region 2 conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of West Williams Street in the city of Banning. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jane Chavez, a twenty-nine year old resident of the city of Banning. A record check confirmed Chavez was on felony probation for the sales of narcotics. Gang Task Force Officers conducted a probation search of Chavez’s vehicle and located a large amount of methamphetamine, a scale, U.S. currency, and several small zip lock baggies that are commonly used in the sales of narcotics. Chavez was subsequently placed under arrest for the possession of narcotics for sales and transportation of narcotics.
Chavez was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility for the following charges.
- Possession of Narcotics for Sales
- Transportation of Narcotics
- Felony Violation of Probation

The Riverside County Gang Task Force is a collaborative effort of several law enforcement agencies with the goal of combating criminal street gangs. The San Gorgonio Special Operations Regional Gang Task Force is one of six teams which compose the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force. The San Gorgonio Special Operations Gang Task Force is staffed with members from the Banning Police Department, Beaumont Police Department and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
