Possession of Narcotics

On February 3, 2021, at 2:00 PM, Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force Officers from Region 2 conducted a pedestrian check on 38-year-old Banning resident Juan Carlos Garcia in the 500 block of West Ramsey Street, Banning. Garcia was standing next to a vehicle and upon seeing the Gang Task Force Officers, Garcia quickly closed the trunk. When asked if the vehicle Garcia was standing next to was his, he stated he did not know who the vehicle belonged to. The vehicle’s license plate showed the vehicle was in fact registered to Garcia.

Gang Task Force Officers obtained consent from Garcia to conduct a search of the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle, Gang Task Force Officers located a black backpack containing 247 Oxycodone pills, 181 grams of methamphetamine, 543 grams of marijuana, empty zip lock baggies, and an electronic scale. Additionally, Gang Task Force Officers located a large amount in U.S. currency in Garcia’s possession. Garcia was subsequently placed under arrest for the possession of narcotics for sales.

The Riverside County Gang Task Force is a collaborative effort of several law enforcement agencies with the goal of combating criminal street gangs. The San Gorgonio Special Operations Regional Gang Task Force is one of six teams which compose the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force. The San Gorgonio Special Operations Gang Task Force is staffed with members from the Banning Police Department, Beaumont Police Department and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Juvenile Fentanyl Poisoning Arrest

On May 21, 2023, at 5:19 p.m., personnel from the Riverside Sheriff’s Perris Station were dispatched to the 2500 block of Spectacular Bid Street in the city of Perris regarding an unresponsive juvenile, deputies and paramedics performed lifesaving measures and teen was transported to a local hospital.

Fatal Traffic Collision

On September 24, 2023, around 1:53 A.M., deputies assigned to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Lake Elsinore Station, responded to a major injury traffic collision on Canyon Lake Dr. S and Continental Dr, in the city of Canyon Lake.
