Stalking and Weapons Investigation Leads to Arrest

On March 8, 2022, at 7:00 A.M., deputies assigned to the Coachella Community Action Team (CCAT), with the assistance of the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force (CVVCGTF), served a search warrant at two residences located in the 49-300 block of Polk Street in the city of Coachella.

On Friday, March 4, 2022, at 8:30 A.M. the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force served a search warrant at a residence located in the 82000 block of Valencia Avenue in Indio.

Attorney General Bonta Announces Arrests in Alleged Inland Empire Hospice Scam Defrauding Medicare and Medi-Cal Programs of More Than $4.2 Million

California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced on February 24th, the arrests of 14 individuals who were charged in San Bernardino County Superior Court in connection with two hospice companies accused of stealing more than $4.2 million from the federal Medicare and state Medi-Cal programs. Based in San Bernardino County, New Hope Hospice, Inc. and Sterling Hospice Care, Inc. enrolled patients who were not terminally ill into hospice care, many of whom told investigators that they were enrolled without their knowledge or understanding of what hospice was. All of the arrested defendants face multiple felony counts including conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, insurance fraud, grand theft, and fraudulent insurance claims, with some defendants also facing charges related to identity theft, money laundering, and tax evasion. Two defendants remain at large.

Fentanyl Poisoning Arrest

On April 22, 2021, about 4:10 PM, Thermal Sheriff’s Station Deputies were dispatched to a call of an unresponsive male adult in the 53000 block of Troon Trail, city of La Quinta. Upon deputies' arrival, it was determined a 35-year-old male adult was deceased.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon Arrest

On February 10, 2022, at 9:00 PM, Thermal Station patrol deputies responded to the 79700 block of Avenue 42, in the unincorporated area of Bermuda Dunes, in reference a 17-year-old juvenile that had been shot multiple times. The investigation revealed the juvenile was in the area attempting to sale items via a social media application.
