Teaching in America is oftentimes an underappreciated job. Educators are put in charge of handling the education of our youth. Often times, they don't get the support they need from their students' parents, but these parents entrust these teachers with their kids.

After reading with great interest the Things to do Calendar published and updated weekly in the Hemet / San Jacinto Chronicle, I have come to the conclusion that the San Jacinto Valley is indeed fortunate to have so many people interested in fostering a wide variety of cultural activities and events in our communities.

Last week we asked you guys if you thought high school students should be required to complete some form of community service in order to graduate from high school. The majority of you all responded with a quick "yes";

Growing up in the San Jacinto Valley, I remember the street of banks that had a claim to fame. The 74 and 79 brought visitors and economy through and into our restaurants, stores and to buy homes.

Now, I know that I am not the first person to say it, but that is the shortest fairy tale that one can write. It has that distant feel of a time long ago, maybe even of a land far away, and the warmth that comes with wishing for a happy ending.
