Thousand Palms Assault leads to a Shooting

Details:

On August 30, 2022, at 2:26 p.m., deputies assigned to the Palm Desert Station were dispatched to a report of an Assault with a Deadly Weapon at the intersection of San Miguelito Drive and Westchester Drive in Thousand Palms. Upon arrival, deputies learned an adult male was assaulted by an adult female with a knife. The investigation revealed the male victim shot the female suspect, who ran away and then fled in a vehicle. The female was driven to a nearby fire station, where she succumbed to her gunshot wound injuries. A crime scene was secured and the Central Homicide Unit assumed the investigation.

The male victim was determined to a be a licensed concealed carry weapon holder. The identification of the involved parties will not be released until notification of next of kin and further investigation is completed

There have been no arrests made and the investigation is currently on-going. No additional information will be released at this time.
