On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 2:30 P.M. Task Force Officers with the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force conducted a vehicle stop near Avenue 53 and Lee Street in the city of Coachella after observing a reckless driver. The driver of the vehicle was identified as documented criminal street gang member, Raymond Rojas, a 47-year-old resident of Coachella. The passenger in the vehicle was identified as documented criminal street gang member, Robert Rojas Jr., a 49-year-old resident of Coachella. Robert Rojas Jr. was found to be on supervised release for a prior conviction for narcotics sales. During a search of the vehicle, Gang Task Force Officers located approximately one ounce of suspected methamphetamine. Both subjects were arrested at the scene. Raymond Rojas was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine for Sales, Transportation of Narcotics, Conspiracy and Reckless Driving. Robert Rojas Jr. was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine for Sales, Conspiracy and Violation of PRCS (Supervised Release). Both subjects were subsequently booked at John Benoit Detention Center in Indio.
