Mayor Karlee Meyer of Hemet, in an exclusive interview, allowed me to conduct an interview with her about the recent discovery of two small brain tumors and how she is dealing with the situation. I was edgy about how to approach the subject but she immediately set me at ease.

The Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians held an Academic Achievement Awards Ceremony to celebrate its outstanding students from the 2020-2021 school year. Some of the recent graduates will pursue higher education while the middle- and high-school honorees will be starting back to school in a few short weeks. Soboba Tribal Executive Officer and emcee, Steven Estrada, welcomed all guests and offered a blessing for the students. Chairman Isaiah Vivanco introduced fellow council members Vice Chairwoman Geneva Mojado, Secretary Sally Moreno-Ortiz, Treasurer Daniel Valdez and Sergeant at Arms Kelli Hurtado.

On Saturday August 7th, Smooth Sounds of Santana hits the stage for the fourth time at the Historic Hemet Theatre. Past shows have drawn some of the fastest sellouts (and this appears to be no exception), so fans are advised to grab their tickets as soon as possible.

My husband often uses his GPS navigation device while driving to sites never before visited. Recently, we took my mother for an unexpected trip to the ER, and with her living in Fallbrook, we wanted the quickest route to our destination. Being 5 pm - peak traffic hours - we chose to drive south and ended up using GPS to guide us. Alas, the GPS had a mind of its own that evening and we took more than one wrong turn. Ughhh. So frustrating when time and purpose are of the essence. When we needed it the most, the system failed us!

Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC) will once again team up with Local Car Scene on Sunday, Aug. 8, to host its Coffee & Cars event at the college's Temecula Valley Campus, drawing more than 600 cars.
