Driver Left Injured, Trapped in Two-Car MoVal Collision

Date:

Two people were injured Monday in a two-car collision on the north end of Moreno Valley that caused one of the vehicles to roll over, leaving the injured driver trapped for a time in the wreckage.

The crash was reported about 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of Sunnymead Ranch Parkway and Village Road, just east of Box Springs Mountain Reserve, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. The circumstances behind the crash were unclear.

Two engine crews and a truck company were sent to the location, and firefighters found one motorist outside his car, while the other was wedged inside the wreckage of the second vehicle, according to reports from the scene.

The victim was safely removed 20 minutes later and taken to Riverside University Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries. The other driver, who suffered minor injuries, declined medical treatment.
