On January 27, 2021, La Quinta Special Enforcement Team deputies conducted a follow-up investigation that stemmed from an armed robbery which occurred at the 79000 block of Olympia Fields, in La Quinta on December 20, 2020. Deputies identified four suspects who were all armed with firearms at the time of the incident. The suspects assaulted the two victims who were struck in the head with the firearms and rendered unconscious. The victims were subsequently robbed of their belongings.
The investigation into the death of Cynthia Denise Ibarra – Cabrera continued. On Saturday, March 20, 2021, investigators arrested Edwin Cordova, 28 years old out of Murrieta for murder. During the fire, three individuals (two juveniles, one dependent adult) perished.
