Incident Date: 09/23/2019

On September 23, 2019, at 4:39 pm, Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the city of Coachella, received a call of a robbery that occurred at a business in the 49000 block of Cesar Chavez Street, in Coachella.  The victim said 3 subjects stole items from the store and fled in a vehicle. A Deputy located the suspects near Avenida De Platina and Avenue 50, in Coachella. When the deputy contacted the suspects, a 15-year-old male juvenile exited the vehicle and fled on foot, dropping a firearm as he ran. 

The juvenile was later apprehended by deputies in a nearby neighborhood. He was booked into juvenile hall for robbery and possession of a firearm. Daisy Sanchez, age 23 of Indio, and Frank Perales, age 28 of Desert Hot Springs, were arrested for robbery and booked into the Indio Jail.

Jurupa ValleyAt-Risk Missing Person

Incident Date: September 23, 2019

On September 23, 2019, we received a report of an at-risk missing person, last seen in the 20100 block of Bedford Canyon Road, located in the unincorporated area of Riverside County known as El Cerrito.  The investigation revealed George Fininen, 78 years-old, voluntarily left his residence on September 23, 2019, about 3:00 p.m. Mr. Fininen was last seen driving a black, 2010 Kia Soul with California license plate #7WLA394.

Mr. Fininen is described as a Black male, five feet eleven inches tall, weighing approximately 198 pounds. He has grey hair and grey eyes. Mr. Fininen was last seen wearing blue pants, a blue shirt, a black hat and glasses. Mr. Fininen’s family has reported that he suffers from Alzheimer’s, diabetes and high blood pressure.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s ground units were used to search for Mr. Fininen, but he was not located.  The search is continuing. The California Highway Patrol was contacted, and a Silver Alert was activated. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Mr. Fininen or his vehicle is urged to call the Jurupa Valley Station at 951-955-2600, or the Riverside County Sheriff’s Dispatch at 951-776-1099.


La Quinta DUI Single Vehicle Traffic Collision

Incident Date: September 22, 2019

On September 22, 2019, at 6:52 PM, Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the city of La Quinta, responded to a non-injury single vehicle traffic collision in the 52-000 block of Avenida Villa, in the city of La Quinta.  The driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a house in the 52-00 block of Avenida Villa. During the investigation, deputies determined alcohol was a factor. The driver, Robert Spurgeon, 37 of La Quinta, was arrested for driving under the influence.  Spurgeon was booked at the Riverside County Jail in Indio.

La Quinta DUI Single Vehicle Traffic Collision

Incident Date: September 21, 2019

On September 21, 2019, at 7:02 PM, Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the city of La Quinta, responded to a non-injury single vehicle traffic collision at Highway 111 and Adams Street in the city of La Quinta.  The vehicle struck a median and continue on Highway 111 towards the City of Indio. Deputies located the vehicle at Highway 111 and Jefferson Street. During the investigation, deputies determined alcohol was a factor. The driver, Donald Reid, 67 of Indio, was arrested for driving under the influence.  Reid was booked at the Riverside County Jail in Indio.
