On Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 4:05 PM, deputies from the Moreno Valley Station responded to a residence in the 24800 block of Heil Drive to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon investigation. Deputies arrived and located an unconscious adult male with traumatic injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The decedent’s identity is currently being withheld pending notification to the family.

Investigators from the Moreno Valley Station and the Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. During the investigation, a suspect was identified and detained. 23-year-old Angel Mendoza was arrested and booked into custody for homicide.
