School Shootings and Students of Color

To paraphrase Jeff Foxworthy, if you feel a shiver of excitement when “school shooting” trends on Twitter, you just might be woke. Last Wednesday, Erica -- a nurse and “humanist” -- proved her wokeness in spades.

Back To School

Schools are back in sessions here in Hemet, San Jacinto Valley, and I couldn’t be happier. My kids are finally out of the house, and they are going to their normal babysitters, the teachers. Schools are “in-person,” as God had always intended them to be. We don’t have to worry about feeding them, because breakfast and lunch are free in schools. We don’t have to worry about them “being bored.” There is a new FPS video game called “The Delta Variant,” and they now get to play it all day long, without their mother constantly yelling, “put that stupid video game away.” Instead of talking to their “friends” through the game console, they now get to curse and scream at them where we can’t hear the foul language and the encrypted slang that I don’t think even they properly understand.

SUPERSIZE ME

My husband and I just celebrated our 48th wedding anniversary this past week. When first married, we had a weekly grocery budget of twenty-five dollars. For that monumental amount we filled our cart. No more! Those days, unfortunately, are long gone! And not only are we all spending more today, but a sneaky little tactic called shrinkflation is cleverly being used by companies to shrink the package size instead of popping up costs. So we are getting fewer paper towels, smaller candy bars, less chips and cereal, fewer trash bags - and sadly, even my beloved ice cream has been noticeably melted down.

America The…Beautiful?!

It has been the number one answer on the Family Feud game show, when they asked 100 people which country is the most beautiful. The answer was a resounding yes to the USA. By the way, the number one answer for the most beautiful people was California. Go figure!
