A strong pro-life presence in the Valley has been evidenced by the recent opening of Planned Parenthood, along a major thoroughfare in Hemet. Honks and waves from passersby often accompany small groups that pray and protest outside the new abortion center. The “Prayerful Presence” Campaign is intended to alert the public to the presence of the Abortion facility and to peacefully pray for an end to Abortion in our Nation. Organizers believe that Abortion ends a precious life, but by offering hurting women options and loving care instead of abortion, mothers will choose to give life a chance.
The other day I was feeling a little dizzy and I didn’t know why I was feeling that way. Everyone suggested that I should go see a doctor, but I am one of those stubborn people who don’t like to see a doctor. I know there is nothing wrong with me; I mean, how could it be; my mirror never lies to me. But doctors these days have the tendency to always find something wrong. They have to, for the sake of repeat business. It’s like going to a mechanic; he’ll never say that your car is okay, that it needs no repairs. Both a doctor and a mechanic have to make a living. Poor things.
I had just changed into my pajamas when I smelled the smoke. I had heard the fireworks earlier, but fireworks aren’t exactly unusual in Vallejo in the run-up to Fourth of July, so I didn’t think anything of it. Still, I went to the window. What I saw was a wave of embers, like a wall of glowing red, raining down from the sky. I didn’t know anything else, I couldn’t see anything else, but I slammed the window shut and started shouting.
I must have heard that stupid question about a million times. From my family, my friends, my customers, even from my employees for God’s sake! I almost fired a couple of them for making it sound like I was doing something wrong by not getting my vaccine shots. My favorite part of the ritual was when a hand that was being extended towards me for a handshake, was then abruptly pulled back when I said, “No, I have not been vaccinated and I don’t intend to get any vaccination, come hell or high water.” As if I had suddenly contracted leprosy.
I grew up in Hemet and care about how it is run. I'm a Vietnam veteran, and have been a resident of Seven Hills (District 4) for 20 years. I have known Mike Madrid, another Seven Hills resident, for over 17 years and supported him in the November election with a $100 donation to his campaign and a few volunteer hours putting up election campaign signs.
