On January 12, 2023, at 1:31 hours, deputies assigned to the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center were alerted of a disturbance coming from within one of the cells. Deputies went to investigate and found an inmate identified as the victim Mark A. Spratt, 24-year-old, resident of Fontana, unresponsive with several injuries.

On Monday, January 9, 2023, at 4:47 PM, deputies from the Lake Elsinore Station responded to Melinda Lane and Corydon Road in Wildomar for a report of a shooting. Deputies arrived within minutes and did not locate any victims or evidence of a shooting.

On Monday, December 26, 2022, at 4:17 PM, deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 500 block of Haystack Loop in Perris.

On December 24, 2022, at 11:02 PM, deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 300 block of West 7th Street in Perris. Upon arriving, deputies located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators from the Central Homicide Unit continued to follow up on all available leads related to the murder of Juan Figueroa, which occurred on August 12, 2022, in the city of Moreno Valley.
