Soboba Delegation Goes to Sacramento to Support California Indian Education Act

Several members of the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians traveled to the state capital on March 23 to voice their support for the California Indian Education Act. Assembly Bill 1703, introduced by Assemblymember James C. Ramos, will encourage school districts, county offices of education and charter schools to form California Indian education task forces with California Tribes local to their regions or historically located in their regions.

Police: Sacramento shooting was gunfight among gang rivals

The mass killing that left six people dead and 12 wounded outside bars just blocks from California’s Capitol last weekend was a gunfight involving at least five shooters from rival gangs, Sacramento police said Wednesday.

California lifts stay-home order for Sacramento region

California lifted a stay-at-home order in the 13-county Sacramento region on Tuesday as hospital conditions improved, a rare turn of good news as the state pushes through what Gov. Gavin Newsom called “its most intense surge” of the coronavirus. The order imposed Dec. 10 banned gatherings outside a household and shuttered or restricted many businesses. With virus cases and hospitalizations more stable now, the region can resume outdoor dining and worship services, reopen hair and nail salons and other businesses, and increase capacity at retailers Gatherings of up to three households are allowed.
