In an effort to assess climate adaptation on the Soboba Indian Reservation, Soboba Tribal Environmental Department Director Christian Aceves and his team hosted a Talking Circle on Sept. 14. In partnership with SoCalGas, a presentation about the past, present and future challenges was provided to Tribal and community members and Soboba employees.
Soboba Parks and Recreation presented its Summer Program for Tribal and community youth aged 6-11 and more than 50 signed up for the popular program. The five-week program from June 12 through July 17 offered a variety of activities to keep them engaged from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
The 12th annual Relay For Life of Riverside County East and Soboba Foundation event to recognize cancer survivors and their caregivers was held July 29 at the Soboba Casino Resort Event Center. The nautical theme tied into the message of hope for survivors and that caregivers often serve as an anchor for them.
Damon Joseph Miranda II has been a Peer Support Specialist at Riverside-San Bernardino County Indian Health Inc.’s Behavioral Health Services for about two years. His duties are to share his lived experience with other Native brothers and sisters, detailing what has worked for him in his life.
The Soboba Sports Complex gymnasium was filled with excitement as anxious family members waited for kindergarten students from the Soboba Tribal Preschool to enter the room on June 5. Before that moment arrived, a slideshow featuring all 21 youngsters in their caps and gowns followed by group photos of them in classroom activities was punctuated by cheers and applause.
