On May 1, 2023, deputies developed information of the location of David Salcida. Deputies responded to the area of 29000 block of Rawlings Way, Lake Elsinore. Salcida attempted to flee but was apprehended and taken into custody without incident.

On Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 9:05 PM, deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to the 23000 block of Catt Rd, Wildomar, reference an attempted carjacking. The investigation revealed the suspect entered an occupied vehicle at the location. He assaulted the driver and gained access to the driver seat and attempted to drive away. A witness heard the victim yelling for help and approached the suspect resulting in a second assault. The suspect fled the area prior to deputies arriving.
As a result of the incident, the victim and witness, both residents of Wildomar, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and denied medical treatment.
Deputies were able to identify the suspect as 33-year-old David Salcida of Lake Elsinore. Salcida is still outstanding, and deputies are still actively searching for him.
