Masks No Longer Mandatory on the Bus

RTA will no longer enforce mask wearing on the bus or at transportation centers. Effective immediately, masks will be recommended but not required on RTA routes. This change comes as a result of the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) recent decision to suspend mask enforcement on public transit nationwide.

Riverside County Sheriff Bianco’s request to hike deputies’ extra duty pay approved

The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco’s request to increase overtime extra duty rates charged for services at events that require the use of deputies and other personnel.

‘Possum Lady’ to give presentation to Hemet’s SAGE Society

Janet Chaney began learning about opossums after rescuing a baby in need of care and rehabilitation. This led to her lifelong interest in caring for the mostly nocturnal marsupials. Also known as the Possum Lady, Chaney will be the guest speaker at the SAGE Society’s May 10 meeting at the Ramona Room behind Miller-Jones Mortuary, 1501 W. Florida Avenue, Hemet. The event is free to the public.

Noli Indian School Running Club Evolves Into Track Team

The Noli Indian School on the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians Reservation has several sports teams but its newest evolved from an after-school running club. Kendra Buck, who teaches Culture and History to middle school students, was able to find a way to share her passion of running with others once in-person learning resumed at the school that serves grades 6-12.
