Details:
On August 14, 2023, at 12:36 a.m., deputies from the John Benoit Detention Center found an unresponsive male in a housing unit cell. Custody staff and jail medical personnel immediately administered life-saving measures. Paramedics responded and assumed life-saving measures. However, he was ultimately pronounced deceased.
Investigators from the Corrections Central Investigations Bureau responded and assumed the investigation. The inmate has been identified as 70-year-old Steven Crawford of Cathedral City.
