On Sunday, August 27, 2023, deputies from the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility were alerted to an unresponsive male inmate in a housing unit. Deputies and jail medical personnel immediately administered life-saving measures. Paramedics responded and assumed life-saving measures. However, he was ultimately pronounced deceased.
Investigators from the Corrections Central Investigations Bureau responded and assumed the investigation. The inmate has been identified as 31 year old Tavae Stalks Walker, of Jurupa Valley.
