The victim in this homicide investigation has been identified as Jorge Alberto Delgado-Urista, 31-year-old, transient male of the Perris area.  If anyone has information regarding this investigation, they are encouraged to call Investigator D. Sandoval of the Central Homicide Unit at 951-955-2777 or Investigator J. Newby of the Riverside Sheriff’s Perris Station at 951-210-1000.

On July 23, 2023, at 8:50 p.m., deputies assigned to the Riverside Sheriff’s Perris Station responded to the 300 block of 3rd Street, in Perris, to reports of gunshots heard in the area. When deputies arrived, they located a male suffering from gunshot wounds.

On Friday, July 14, 2023, La Quinta Special Enforcement Team deputies served a theft-related search warrant at the 53000 block of Avenida Villa in connection to a series of mail thefts in the community of La Quinta.

On July 17, 2023, at about 10:47 AM, deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s, Southwest Station, along with the Riverside Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau responded to the report of a male armed with a rifle who was seen walking into the Temecula Promenade Mall located in the 40000 block of Winchester Road.

During the course of this investigation, a suspect was identified as Ruben Esquivel, 34 years of Coachella. Esquivel is currently in custody on an unrelated homicide. Today, new charges of Murder, Arson, and Use of a Gun in the Commission of a Felony were filed by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
