Individually we are one drop. Together we are an ocean. (Ryunosuke Satoro)
Together we can do great things. (Mother Teresa)
Alone we can do so little; together, we can do so much. (Helen Keller)
If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself. (unknown)
There are many “together” quotes. It is a recognition that together we are stronger. It is a recognition that together we can accomplish things that alone we can never do. Teamwork is necessary to winning in sports. Teamwork is critical for our military to be successful. For those of you who served in the military, you know basic training was as much about building teamwork as developing skills.
Today, Americans working together as a team is more important than ever.
There have always been political divisions in our America but we have usually worked out our differences, compromised and moved forward together. Somehow, compromise has become a dirty word, and “our way or no way” has become the norm. We did not become the country that we are by refusing to work together but by discussion and negotiation and coming together for the common good. We must come together, individually doing our parts in controlling the spread of the Covid-19 virus by wearing masks, socially distancing, and minimizing our exposures by staying home as much as we can. Lives depend on everyone working together to get through this pandemic. Once we have defeated the virus, we must work together to rebuild our economy, to see that everyone is included in the recovery. Keep your focus on the prize, the goal. Visualize our country being one in which all prosper, all are healthy and safe. Together we can build such a country.
If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people together to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery).
Imagine what our country and the world can be and do your part. Together we can make this happen.
