Athlete of the Year – As the school year winds down,it’s time to announce the winners of The Valley League (our local middle school sports league) Athlete of the Year award. A boy and a girl were each chosen to receive this honor. Jada Tiggett from Diamond Valley Middle School was selected for being an outstanding two-sport athlete and having a 3.5 GPA. Ms.Tiggett dominated in the gym this school year.
Jada was a standout in girls volleyball and girls basketball. She spent all three of her middle school years playing for these teams and will look to continue her athletic career in high school. Jada has a passion for playing sports and is excited to see what high school competition has to offer her.
Thorin Johnson from Dartmouth Middle School was named the boy athlete of the year. Thorin showed his athleticism by being a constant force on the cross country team, he loved to show how great his endurance and patience is for running. Thorin Johnson also found success on the boy’s volleyball team. He was one of the leaders, as well as being an excellent athlete. He also excels in the classroom turning in an impressive 4.0 GPA. Thorin will be looking to continue his athletic and academic achievements at the high school level next school year.
The trophies for these two outstanding students were donated by The Sportsman Club and presented by one of their officers Greg Carl. The Valley Chronicle congratulates Jada Tiggett and Thorin Johnson on their achievements at the middle school level and looks forward to seeing what they will be doing when they start high school.
