About a dozen dedicated young people recently completed a five-part course in Financial Literacy 101 taught by Soboba Tribal Administration’s Financial Analyst Lenell Carter. The most important lesson they learned is that you are never too young to learn about how to create a healthy financial future.

Because the Soboba Foundation fully supports education and the pursuit of higher education for all students within the San Jacinto Valley, it recently awarded 11 local students with scholarships. Each graduate received $2,500 in unrestricted funds to assist in the continuation of their academic goals.

Believe it or not, the San Jacinto City Council met in universal agreement on the agenda while totally ignoring the elephant in the room. The council was late returning for a closed session, the results of which were either not disclosed or continued to a future date. After a musical interlude waiting for the council to return to open session, the usual intros were accommodated.

Pulling a pistol from his waistband, the young man spun his human shield toward police. “Don’t do it!” a pursuing officer pleaded. The young man complied, releasing the bystander and tossing the gun, which skittered across the city street and then into the hands of police.
