MSJC develops a higher standard of education for the valley. Their nursing program ranks high in the state of California.
The Public Information and Marketing Office of Mt San Jacinto College released information about the program. Mt. San Jacinto College’s Registered Nursing program ranked No. 7 out of 160 programs in California for best-value RN programs, according to Nursing Explorer.
Nursing Explorer, nursing education and career resource center, calculates the rankings by considering a college’s National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) pass rate and the net price of attendance for a student who receives the average amount of financial aid.
Nursing Explorer explains their ranking methodology; “The higher the NCLEX pass rate of the program and the lower the cost, the better the return on investment,” Nursing programs are in high demand, and as such, the program continues to grow in our area.
MSJC nursing students are highly sought after by local agencies, according to Dr. Peter Zografos, Mt San Jacinto College Nursing Program Director. MSJC Nursing students participate in an occupational internship with local agencies and gain hands-on experience, he said. All graduates who have participated in the occupational internship program, in past years, have secured employment through their internship.
The program offers extensive research and advancement opportunities. The nursing program creates opportunities for potential nursing students to seek employment in this field. Getting a job in the field of study is one of the reasons MSJC’s Allied Health & Nursing Program earned a Silver Star award from the California Community College Chancellor’s Office.
In May, MSJC held a nurse pinning ceremony for its 46 nursing graduates. They were among 1,707 graduates earning a record-breaking 3,314 degrees and certificates from Mt. San Jacinto College this academic year.
In addition, on June 17, Mt. San Jacinto College launched its MSJC Promise program that will provide free tuition to first-time, full-time students beginning this fall.
