MSJC Breaks Ground on Athletics & Kinesiology Complex

Mt. San Jacinto College and community leaders on March 23 ceremoniously broke ground on the $41 million MSJC Athletics & Kinesiology Complex at the Menifee Valley Campus. The project will feature a 5,000-seat stadium and field house, softball field, and sand volleyball courts. The site is scheduled to host games and other events as soon as Fall 2022.

Student loan relief extended to some privately held loans

The federal government’s pause on student loan payments is being extended to more than 1 million borrowers who have defaulted on student loans that are held by private lenders, the Education Department announced Tuesday.

SOBOBA SUPPORTS THE COMMUNITY

The 9th annual Soboba Foundation Charity Golf Tournament is being planned for May, but the first step has already taken place as 10 nonprofits have been chosen to benefit from the event. After an extensive selection process by Soboba Foundation board members, the following organizations were selected: Care-A-Van Transit System, Friends of Valley-Wide Foundation, Hemet Hospice Volunteers, LIFEWORKS Adult Life Skills ATP, My City Youth Center, Ramona Humane Society, Semper Fi Sports, T.H.E. Center, Valley Community Pantry and Veterans Paying It Forward.

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YEARS HEMET CITY COUNCIL EVALUATES A CITY MANAGER WITHOUT TERMINATING HIM

Tuesday night's Hemet City Council meeting presented quite a surprise to those of us who cover this twice-monthly event. In closed session, the Council evaluated the performance of City Manager Chris Lopez and came back into public session with a thumbs up on his performance which, for the first time in years, did not result in termination. We have attempted to contact Lopez for comment but have been unable to do so by press time.

MSJC Offering Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine for Tiers 1a and 1b

Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC) is offering the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to those who qualify under Tiers 1a and 1b. The vaccines will be given on a first-come, first-served basis via online registration only. Only those who qualify under Tiers 1a and 1b may register, which includes those 65 and older; those working in specific health care fields; law enforcement; education and childcare workers. Please review the Riverside County Public Health website for information about the tiers. You must bring proof of eligibility to the appointment (an ID badge; letter of employment; and, for those 65 and older, a driver's license, passport, or birth certificate).
